Chair of Software and Business Engineering (SBE)
TU Berlin The Chair of Software and Business Engineering has been established at TU Berlin in 2025, and conducts research at the intersection of distributed systems and business engineering. A particular research focus is on distributed machine learning, edge computing, and distributed trust.
- Prof. Stefan Schulte
is a Full Professor at TU Berlin and the head of the Chair of Software and Business Engineering. Before joining TU Berlin, he was a Full Professor at TU Hamburg, where he headed the Institute for Data Engineering (from 2021 to 2025) and TU Wien, where he was an Assistant and Associate Professor (from 2011 to 2021).
Findings from his research have been published in more than 150 refereed scholarly publications, including publications in high-tier journals like Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, and ACM Computing Surveys, as well as top-tier conferences like the International Conference on Very Large Databases and the International Conference on Service-Oriented Computing. Among others, he received Best Paper Awards at the IEEE International Conference on Blockchain (in 2020 and 2024), the European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing (in 2020 and 2023), and the Distributed Systems track at the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing (in 2023). He is the Spokesperson of the “Communication and Distributed Systems” Special Interest Group of the German Informatics Society and Speaker of the IFIP Working Group on “Service Oriented Systems”.
In AEGIS, he supervises DC8 and co-supervises DC13.
